How to Join

Upon joining, your $5 initial deposit will go into a savings account that earns dividends monthly. You can continue to deposit into this account via direct deposit or in person, and your money is insured up to $250,000 by the federal government.

Brooklyn Coop members also benefit from discounts on Citi Bike annual membership and free financial advising.

To become a Brooklyn Coop member, bring the following:

  1. Unexpired government issued photo ID
  2. Proof of address – acceptable proofs: address on photo ID, bank statement, lease, utility bill
  3. Proof of Social Security Number or IRS letter indicating your Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN)
  4. Membership fee ($25) plus a $5 minimum deposit for the savings account
